Petals

We're designing and constructing The Joinery according to the Living Building Challenge.™ The intense green building certification from the Living Future Institute is organized into 7 Petals:

  2. Water

  3. Energy

  4. Health + Happiness

  5. Materials

  6. Equity

  7. Beauty

​

The idea is that the built environment should function as cleanly and efficiently as a flower.

Imperatives

Each Petal is further divided into Imperatives, which address specific issues through detailed requirements. The Joinery has to meet all 20 Imperatives to become a certified Living Building.
